Preventative Medicine

 

Offering holistic health care means catering to the whole family. Effective medicine goes beyond treating illness as it arises. It involves working with patients on reducing lifestyle risk factors and using evidence based preventive activities that can be included in a health care plan.

Women’s Health

 

We consult on a whole range of gynaecological conditions, as well as sexual and reproductive health, fertility and menopause. We offer shared antenatal care with the Gold Coast University, Robina Hospital and Tweed Hospital campuses.  In addition, we provide ancillary care in conjunction with private obstetricians. 

Immunisations and Children’s Health Checks

 

With family at the heart of the practice, treating children is core area of practice. We offer childhood immunisations from six weeks of age as well as school and travel vaccinations.

CASA Aviation Medicals

 

Dr Tim Hardy is a Designated Aviation Medical Practitioner (DAME) for the Civil Aviation Service Authority for private, commercial and airline transport pilots. We ensure an efficient turn around for certificates to be issued.  Read more here. 

Diabetes Management

 

Diabetes is an increasingly common problem.  In the long term, this can cause problems with the heart and kidneys, the eyes, and peripheral sensation. The doctors at 19th Avenue Family Practice are trained to diagnose and manage diabetes. If indicated, access to specialist dieticians and diabetic educators is available under GP management plans.

Skin Screening

 

Skin cancer accounts for 80% of newly diagnosed cancers. South-East Queensland has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world. Our doctors have an interest in the diagnosis and management of all dermatological conditions. Most skin cancers can be easily removed in our treatment room.

Travel Medicine

Wound care

 

The clinic is stocked with all the necessary equipment to deal with a range of wounds. We also have onsite nursing staff that specialise in wound care.
